These healers believe they are called by their ancestors to perform their duties and undergo a rigorous personal journey to prepare for their vocation. They act as a medium between the spirit world and the physical world, combining physical, psychological, and spiritual aspects to heal the entire organism. During healing ceremonies, they use methods such as 'throwing the bones' to make a diagnosis and enter a trance-like state to communicate with the spirit world.
